WJE Mourns the Loss of Rob Gessel
Rob Gessel, a Senior Specialist in our Seattle office, passed away on August 28.
Mr. Gessel joined WJE in 1987 and led our steel nondestructive testing practice. He was a certified bridge inspector, a certified radiographic interpreter, and he pioneered WJE’s practice in phased array ultrasonic testing of bridge pins, weldments, and forgings. In addition, he had Level III certifications in Ultrasonic and Magnetic Particle test methods and was a Certified Weld Inspector. Rob was known industry-wide as the go-to person to solve the most challenging problems in volumetric evaluation of steel parts.
"Rob took immense pride in helping our clients solve difficult problems. He was a lifelong learner and a generous mentor, always eager to share his knowledge. While his professional accomplishments were remarkable, Rob will be equally remembered for his kindness, patience, and sharp sense of humor,” said WJE President and CEO William Nugent.
He is survived by his wife Susan, children, and his grandchildren.
